Has a kicker or a punter ever gone 1st in the NFL draft?

There has been a lot of great kickers and punters in the NFL, but have any ever gone number 1 in the NFL draft?

Has a kicker or a punter ever gone 1st in the NFL draft?nba draft

Sebastian Janakowski and Ray Guy! Both with the Oakland Raiders!

Has a kicker or a punter ever gone 1st in the NFL draft?ncaa ,nba teams

I can almost swear it's no. But Sabastian Janikowski went very high the year he was drafted.
Ganakouski to the Raiders
NO.
yes jon gruden took sebastian janakowski with the what..17th pick i believe? and a few other kickers have gone in the first round. i belive a total of 3 have gone in the first round. i think the raiders took a kicker as well back in the late 60's or early 70's in the first round as well.
No. Janikowski went in the 1st round to the Raiders, but was not the no.1 draft pick overall.
Well, I believe Kickers should be drafted higher then the 5th or 6th round becuase they score the majority of the Team's points.
no.Not one that only kicks
ray guy was taken in first round by the raiders , he wasn't the first pick though. 1973. not sure about erxleben for the saints he kicked field goals as well as punted. janikowski was definitely picked n the first round also by the raiders. .
I dont think so but It will probably happen someday
Not #1 overall, but definitely in the 1st round...Janikowski was taken in the 1st by the raiders, and UCLA had a kicker taken by STL Rams back in the 80s...I think Chris Lee. Janikowski still kicks, Lee didnt make it outta preseason.
Not that I can remember. You don't build a team around your special teams anyway.
NOPE
YES TO THE RAIDERS [ RAY GUY ] I DON'T KNOW WHEN

BUT NFL NETWORK SAID IT ON DRAFT DAY
that is a good question i do not know the answer to!!! but panthers have a great kiker. John Kasey buy the proble is hes getting old and wont be able to kick for much longer and i dont know where we shall fing another great kiker like kasey. he has been with the panthers all the way!
Russell Erxleben was the 11th overall pick by the Saints in 1979. The highest ever for a kicker I believe.

Should Pacman Jones be kicked out of the NFL for good?

It's apperent he has not learned his lesson from the Vegas shooting. He has shown no signs of improving his image. Even if he does come back to the NFL, he will be a huge distraction. Should the commisioner just ban him for life?

Should Pacman Jones be kicked out of the NFL for good?nba 2k8

YES

Should Pacman Jones be kicked out of the NFL for good?nba mvp ,nba teams

You know I thought that too but then found out that he wasn't involved in that shooting just his entourage. Now why he needs an entourage I don't know. However, given his propensity for doing something stupid it shouldn't be long before he does something that he should be kicked out of the NFL for.
send him to the bengals
for real! i cant even believe he is in the news again...and another bengals player....help me......i dont know if banning for life is teh answer since technically he himself has done nothing wrong but hang around idiots...but he is definate distraction....maybe the players union should vote on it!
no then chris berman cant make that stupid sound anymore
If I were the NFL commissioner I would definitely ban him for this year and give him probation the following year if he's not in jail. The young dude is a talent in the NFL but I think Pacman is his own worst enemy because right after he pleaded with the commish about his 10 game suspension he got involved in another SNAFU!23 years old and the dude has gotten in more trouble than a thug from the streets of South Central LA!Ban him for life in NFL might be rolling around in the NFL commish's mind right now!If he gives him another chance then he KILLS someone, the NFL might be liable for a killer lawsuit!!!!
No. I know he's been involved in a lot of stuff, but he's never been convicted of anything. We live in a country where you are innocent until proven guilty, so Pacman in my mind is innocent. The police even said that Pacman wasnt in Atlanta where this latest shooting was. Just cause he knows someone who shot someone doesnt mean he had something to do with it. I know people that have commited crimes. And how would he be a distraction coming back to the NFL? Are you saying that a guy who has not been convicted of anything is less of a distraction than all of the Bengals players who were convicted of stuff.
of course not
I'm all for banning the Pacman for life. It's one thing to "make it rain" in a strip club. It's quite another to instigate a gun fight because you want your money back - after you've "made it rain."
yea
Has anyone ever been banned from playing football?? Well I dont think so. Ban him because hes a bad image?? Wait for him to kill somone then thats worth banning someone.
Not yet, if he goes, so does Chris Henry!
He is getting close to being banned forever, he hasn't been convicted of anything yet, but he is obviously protecting one of his buddies in the Las Vegas shootings. Now he is wanted for questioning on another shooting done by one of his entourage? What is it with this guy and gun-toting fools?
Yes because he hasn't matured. The commish gave him a chance but he blew it. He has a curfew but stays out late. He cant stop visiting strip clubs. One of his posse members left a man paralyzed.
well i know t.o.,moss,and the entire bengals team would!! he is stealing there spotlight!! 2 season ban zero tolereance i mean how hard is it not to get in a gun fight?
Yep... He should be kicked out because he has already been warned and suspended for doing the same thing he just got in trouble for. He's supposed to be a PROFESSIONAL athlete, and professional athletes should not have run ins with the law.
i would not ban him for life yet...2 seasons, but by then, no team would want him so yea that basically is the end of his career...he just can't let his old life go, his old friends, and how he was raised...the guy lacks common sense...he's a disgrace
He hasn't actually been convicted of anything so no he can't be banned for life. If you can let players back in that have been in jail then it isn't right to ban him. He should have to sit out the entire season and hopefully he will learn something, if not then you can consider banning him for multiple years, eventually he'll either be too old to play or no one will want him.
He is a jackass. Assuming he is guilty. NFL should fine him a million dollars for every incident he is involved in. That will learn him. I don't care how much money he has. A million is a million. Give the money to white kids. Bet he will reconsider his behavior.

Who are you rooting for in the Superbowl?

And who will ultimately win the trophy? In other words...whose going to Disneyland?

the giants will upset the patriots by twenty points, and Eli will be going to disneyland.

What team will win the NFL Superbowl in 2008--the Patriots or the Giants?nba records ,nba teams

Pats have the experience and a better coach and QB, so despite a good effort by NY, Pats win by 8
Pats by 14. Maybe 31-17.

I don't know if Brady wants to go to Disneyland. I don't think he'd fit in the roller coaster.

What is this NFL flex scheduling I keep hearing about?

Apparently the first game of it was last night's Bears-Giants game?

What is this NFL flex scheduling I keep hearing about?nba 2k

Apparently, the NFL and the TV networks can reschedule games. For instance, the Bears/Giants game was originally scheduled at 1:00 on Fox, as a regional broadcast. Because of the importance of the game, it was switched to a national broadcast on NBC during prime time.

What is this NFL flex scheduling I keep hearing about?nba updates ,nba teams

The NFL looks at the lineups for the remaining games on Sundays and picks the best one to be moved to Sunday Night.

That way they can get better viewership, and get more revenue.

Think about it, would you rather watch Arizona play Miami, or Baltimore play Chicago?

I know that these teams don't play it is just to illistrate my point.
When NBC rejoined the NFL Family this year - they wanted the option to pick and choose the games they wanted to provide. They wanted a flex (flexable) schudule. So, in August Chicago and New York were not the scheduled teams for Sunday Night. But, NBC thought that was the best game this week and they used their flex schedule ability. I hope I haven't confused you.
Flex scheduling was part of the contract NBC made with the NFL for the Sunday night game.

In essence, this is the deal:

In order to make sure they get the best matchup and highest ratings for the national game, NBC gets to pick which of the Sunday games is played at night. I'm not sure when the pick has to be made, but NBC gets to move one game for their telecast.

Kind of messes up team travel schedules and fan's attendance plans, but makes for more interesting viewing down the playoff stretch.
Now until the end of the regular season, NBC will show games with playoff implications. I think last season on Monday Night Football the Packers played the Ravens played near the end of the season and both teams were going nowhere. And I think that was the reason for it.
good question.

they kept saying it yesterday during the race and I was wondering, too.
It allows for the best match ups to be moved to Sunday night football and to the late afternoon games. For example, last nights Bears-Giants game was flex scheduling.

Also go Bears!

What teams play who in the NFL playoffs?

how do they know who faces who in the playoffs. patorits, steelers? chargers etc and wildcard team and who are the chargers going to play in the first round?

What teams play who in the NFL playoffs?nba dunks

OK, take the AFC, each team is seeded 1-6 based on their record. Example: 1) Pats 2) Colts 3) Steelers 4) Chargers

5) Jags 6) Browns

The Pats and Colts get a 1st round bye as they are the highest 2 seeds. The Steelers would play the Browns in Pittsburgh, and the Chargers would play the Jags in San Diego. For the 2nd round the teams are re-seeded 1-4 based on their record, and 1 seed (Patriots) would play the 4 seed, and the #2 seed (Colts) would play the #3 seed. Higher seed get home field advantage.

What teams play who in the NFL playoffs?nba all star ,nba teams

Well If SD wins the rest of their games, and Pitt. loses one game, then SD will play Clevland... IF Pitt wins all their games and SD loses one( which wont happen) Then SD will play JAGS in SD and Pitt will play Clevland
The teams are seeded this way:

Seeds 1-4 are the 4 division winners, with the team with the best record being # 1, the team with the next best record is #2, etc.

Seeds 5 and 6 are the wild cards. These are the two teams, other than the division winners, with the best records.

It's possible for a team with a better record than another to actually have a lower seed than that team. For example, if the Colts finish at 14-2, the Jaguars at 11-5, and the Chargers at 10-6, the Chargers would actually be seeded higher than the Jags because they would be a divison winner while Jacksonville would be a wild card team.

In the first round of the playoffs (wild card weekend), the #3 seed plays #6, and the #4 seed plays #5. The top 2 seeds in each conference get a bye in the first week.

In the second playoff week, the #1 seed plays the lowest seed that is still alive, and the #2 seed plays the other team. The third week of the playoffs are the conference championship games, when only 2 teams in each conference are left.

In all post season games except the Superbowl, the highest seeded team is the home team.

In the AFC, the Patriots have clinched the # 1 seed and the Colts have clinched # 2. The other seeds aren't determined for sure yet.
The best team always plays the worst team, simple as that.

1%26amp;2 will get a bye the first week. So 3 will play 6 and and 4 will play 5. In week 2, 1 will play the lowest ranked one left, and 2 will play the highest one left.

Most disappointing team in the nfl season and why?

Most disappointing team in the nfl season and why?nba salary

How about the Rams. There were in my NFC Championship pick.

Most disappointing team in the nfl season and why?nba jerseys ,nba teams

Falcons, lets just say # 7
The Philidelphia Eagles and the New Orleans Saints. Alot of People picked the Saints as the NFC rep in the super Bowl before season began.. and The eagles, people thought they would be fighting the Cowboys for the NFC east. Both where horrid disappointments, Saints i think more so because they have so much talent on both sides of the ball... i mean, i get feeling that in 4 years, the name Reggie bush will be more closely associated with the word bust than it will be with the word superstar.
Lions for me...some good games against strong teams and mostly lackluster coaching and thinking and drafting and still, we support them with hope every year for 8 games or so...then just support them with no hope..
The Saints.

Don't forget who were favorites to make the Super Bowl for the NFC. Buuuuuuuut...

Brees had a rough start, McAllister was lost for the season, Bush didn't meet the expectations, Jason David was burnt most of the time and Brees never had a reliable 2nd target.
Dolphins. Because they won that 1 game that kept them out of the record books at 0-16.
I鈥檓 with everyone that said the Lions.

Pee-ee-YU!

I can STILL smell them.

They REALLY stunk up the second half of the season.

Dey-ain-got NO excuse.

All those other teams have legitimated reasons why they didn鈥檛 do better than they did; but the Lions?鈥h uh.

NO EXCUSES.

They have enough skill at all positions to have achieved at LEAST a wild card.

They weren鈥檛 plagued with injuries like some of the teams. Their schedule wasn鈥檛 that hard; statistically, they were one of the better defenses; sowhat happened.

They did there usual and self destructed.

THEY BTCHED UP.
Patriots!

They've disappointed me 18 times so far this year! ;)

(I think I am in for another one too!)
it has to be the Ravens! With that defense and only winning 5games and the ONLY team to lose to the dolphins! eww!
Bears - Ok, there is a Super Bowl runner-up jinx, but this is a team who had QB problems and refused to do anything in the off-season (disappointing in itself), but seemingly still had enough to at least get back to the conference final...the club was not just flat, the tires were shredded and it went much deeper than the QB woes.
I'd say Rams, followed by Jets followed by Ravens
Rams for sure, Steven Jackson, Marc Bulger, Torry Holt, Ike Bruce, and newly acquired Randy McMichael and Drew Bennett, our offense should've been out of this world. But due to lots and lots of injuries, and horrible, predictable play calling, there was never a spark that the team needed to get going.
detroit lions, for winning 6 games getting our hopes up and then completly bombing the rest of the season
Packers. To lose one game away from the Super Bowl against a subpar team was heart-breaking.
Da Bears..............all we heard about in training camp was how good this offense looks and blah,blah,blah...........there defense sucked this year thanks to having a combined total of 12-15 players on injured reserve...We lost Mike Brown(again)........when he is healthy he is one of the best safety's' in the game...........What is really disappointing is I think that in 4 or 5 of our losses we only lost by at least 1 score.......

Very disappointing.....
Dolphins!
The Saints....after last season, I really thought they could make it to the superbowl. All the "improvements" on defense didnt work out well and Duece being injured early killed the offense.

Also, the Pats* are a huge disappointment. With all that talent and they still have the arrogance to blatantly cheat and think it is okay.
Yup, but also consider the Chargers! They should have gone further!
The Lions and Bears made the Packers look good. I nominate the Lions. Why? Ask Mike Martz.
The 49ers. QB Alex Smith, TE Vernon Davis, RB Frank Gore, should've had a stellar offense this year, ending up for sure in the worst 4 teams in the NFL.

Runners Up: Cincinnati Bengals. With star power like that, how did they lose so many freaking games!?
Seattle had everything but the drive to get at least #2 seed and do far better. They just did not show up, that's all.
clevland browns......boring name and jersies plus there bad
Personally , The New Orleans Saints, we had such high hopes, then started 0-4, played catch up all year. Hopefully we can shore up the defense in the off season. I would think over-all had to be the Falcons, one train wreck after the next.
Cincinnati Bengals they were consider contenders before the season started.
49ers..............................after all the hype from various "experts" and the offseason moves you figured they would of build on 2006's 7 win season. Instead the offense flat out sucked and Larry Allen looked old fat and tired along with the rest of the o line playing like crap.
lets just hope my team the giants kick the pats asses with there pretty boy ***** tom brady with his fake *** injury
what about the ravens? they had some potential, but then had a huge injury list. almost the entire starting team was injured at one point in time or another. less than halfway through the season the "coach" (brian billick) blatantly stopped giving the slightest of a sh*t, and was then fired, along with the entire coaching staff. they had the number one defense going into the season according to espn, we lost our starting qb (mcnair) to play our backup (boller) who basically sucked, and was then injured leaving us troy smith who had never played even a minute of an nfl game, we got straight sh*t on by the worst team in the nfl, the dolphins, who went 1-15, only beating the ravens
My Dallas Cowboys...they had a great season only to lose it all in the playoff games. Stupid Jessica Simpson. lol. jk. but yeah, have a nice day! I'm now going for the Giants...yay! but just for now...I'm a 'Boys fan through and through

How much does the NFL draft mean to you right now?

It's a little less than a month to the draft, and ESPN is doing a mock draft ("THE DALLAS COWBOYS ARE ON THE CLOCK!"). Mike Wilbon talked about it on PTI the other day. We've got the Final Four tonight, opening day for baseball tomorrow, The Masters in a few days, NHL playoff races, NBA playoff races... it's big week right now for sports and we're talking about the NFL draft? What's the big deal? Most of these players aren't going to last very long, and the ones that do aren't going to be recognized until football season.

I don't know about you... but all I care about is which team the starcollegeplayers went to, and who got drafted for my favorite team.

So, the question is still the same... how much does the NFL draft mean to you right now?

a lot its the NFL it always rules over all other sports and espn has been doing that mock draft for one team every day for the last 30 days its nothing new. who cares about golf or the NHL? nobody no one cares about the nba til the playoffs. espn does what interests ppl and football is the most watched sport in america
NFL Draft PWNS, it's like the best time of the year....especially for a detroit lions fan like me!!!
not that much but there's a lot of teams that need good players. I hope Calvin Johnson gets drafted to a good team. he's the best.

Who should the Houston Texans take in the 1st Rnd of the 2006 NFL draft?

I would like to hear who you think, and why? If you think they should trade, what should the trade be?

Who should the Houston Texans take in the 1st Rnd of the 2006 NFL draft?nba lottery

Although there are many rumors of the Houston Texans taking Mario Williams with the first pick, they should take Reggie Bush. Reggie Bush has been the consensus #1 pick since the Rose Bowl at the end of his magnificent USC career. Bush put up a very strong performance on his pro day, running well and wowing in the bench press (24 repetitions of 225 pounds). The Texans had a good visit with him after his workout, and the team is expected to start negotiating a contract in the coming days. Houston coach Gary Kubiak told Bush he envisions using the multi-talented star in the same manner the Trojans did 鈥?30-plus touches split between running back, wide receiver and special teams. Obviously, their man is Reggie Bush.

Who should the Houston Texans take in the 1st Rnd of the 2006 NFL draft?nba champs ,nba teams

BUSH. but they could trade bush for ferguson and 1 round picks or williams and 1 round picks
Reggie Bush #1 all the way baby. Carr is a great QB needs a better line.
They won't trade the pick, the take Mario Williams on the cheap
THey should defentintly not trade the spot and take reggie bush.
I honestly think they should trade their pick to get Williams and something else from a team who desparately needs Reggie. If they don't, you HAVE to take the best available player on the board. Domanick isn't exactly healthy and at the least, you can use Reggie immediately as a returner and ease him into the RB role. If you have the opportunity to buy a BMW at the value of a Civic, tell me which one you'd get.
why not take reggie bush, it would be a great choice to take the best overall player and build your franchise around him....
If the Texans are smart they will grab the next Gale Sayers in Reggie Bush. If they trade the pick, the Texans are the worst franchise in the world!!! This is a no-brainer pick!!!
take bush out of usc. the have a lot invested in david carr. no need for another qb. if they dont take a running threat then a new qb won't matter anyways all the d-line will t-off on the pass rush
Reggie Bush without a doubt.
If they are smart, Reggie Bush.
LOGAN COX HE IS THE BEST D LINEMAN SINCE REGGIE WHITE
Reggie Bush
Reggie Bush, he's the best player for that team. He will help them sell tickets, and also people will want to see the Texans play to see if Bush is really that good.
They should take Vince Young. Try him at QB and if it doesnt work out then move him to RB or WR like the Jags did with Matt Jones last year. Worked out pretty well for them.

If you were starting an NFL franchise, what current players would be your first five picks to build

If you were starting an NFL franchise, what current players would be your first five picks to build around?nba rules ,nba teams

My first 5 would be.......

Tom Brady

Andre Johnson

Brian Urlacer

Craig Steltz (LSU DEF Back)

Adrain Peterson

Thats what i go with
1. Peyton Manning- leader and quality starter every year

2. Brian Urlacher- leader and gives defense identity

3. Ed Reed- all around great player, on defense and special teams

4. Brian Westbrook- one man offense

5. Joe Thomas- young and strong leader, already is a presence as rookie
Easy one, take the 5 best Offensive linemen in the game and that is where you start building a team around. OL and DL are the most important positions to build a long term quality team.
Vince Young

L Tomlinson

Randy Moss

Steve Smith

Mario Williams
joey harrington

charles rogers

mike williams

jeff bakus

roy williams

that sounds like it would work, right? i mean no team has the balls to pull this one off.
brady, bush, merriman, moss, and larry johnson
Brady, Moss, Westbrook, Demico Ryans, Asante Samuel, balance I guess
1. Peyton Manning - tossup with Brady but I'll take Manning

2. Walter Jones - could have went younger but no young tackles standout and o-lineman play forever

3. Jamal Williams - dominant d tackle is a must but could be one of a few guys here, I like Jamal best though

4. Patrick Willis - best young mlb in the league

5. Asante Samuel - playmaking corner.

balanced team with a slight lean toward defense.
Tom Brady

Wes Welker

Randy Moss

Mike Vrabel

Kevin Faulk
I think you need offensive and defensive balance to be successful. The most notable positions are the easier to determine but success depends greatly on the less notable offensive linemen, etc. Offensively I think Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, LaDanian Tomlinson and Randy Moss are tops right now. Not sure what defensive players are tops although it appears that Mario Williams (Texans) may prove to be a solid defensive players for the next several years.
Tom Brady

Devin Hester

Adrian Peterson

Albert Haynesworth

Randy Moss
On defense it would be Brian Urlacher simply for the fact that he is always around the ball and an incredibly smart ballplayer. My second defensive pick would be Dwight Freeney, he's just a beast when he's healthy.

On offense it would have to be LT at running back, he's going to be the closest thing to Barry sanders that we get to see in our time.

I would take Braylon Edwards at Cleveland as my WR i feel like he's an up and coming player that's only going to get better.

And for my QB, Jay Cutler of the Denver Broncos. He's a young guy with a lot of talent, given the right situation and a good QB coach he'll be taking somebody to the Superbowl and not as a guest.

Notice the trend of young on offense and older more experienced on D? The only substitution I'd make would be if I couldn't get LT, I would take Adrian Peterson (the one in Minnesota)instead.
brady - because hes in his prime

peterson - hes the best young rb(in 4 years LT will be too old)

Moss - although old, hes just too good

Mario Williams - great young pass rusher

patrick willis - leading nfl tackler, oh yeah and hes a rookie

joe thomas - great young tackle, great pass blocker and improving run blocker

honerable mention - devin hester - only a fool would kick to him.
First I'm going for leadership so for QB I'd take Brady, he's a proven winner and an unsung leader. At LB I'm taking Brian Urlacher. Brady needs a go to reciever so I'd take Ocho Cinco, he's younger and drops less passes than Moss or T.O., At RB I'd take Brian Westbrook, simply because I don't like LT and I'd take Osi Umenyora on the D-Line

also let the excuses come the refs wasnt on their side today the refs was fair for a change at texas stadium!!!!!
romo played a good game it was the dallas defense that let the team down. how can they let the giants go down the field with 50 secs and 2 to's before the half time? the dallas offense had the ball on a 20 play 13 min drive so the defense should have been well rested!

that score was the game margin. the dallas defense put romo in that situtation.
Wrong. The Indianapolis Colts are the New York Yankees of the NFL . Barring last years title, look at their regular season record(including this year) they win double digit games almost every year and nothing to show for it.
Not really. There's no comparrison between the two.
It wasn't just the defense who let them down. It was the whole team. But all in all THE COWBOYS SUCK!!!!!!! YEAH GIANTS!!!! Enjoy your victory cause the PACK is going to kill you next week!

Do you mean "soccer style kicker"? (I've never heard of a player who just kicks called that) If so, that is actually the way you kick (coming from a curve/angle and using the side of your foot rather than just booting it w/the tip)

If you mean soccer style, Pete Gogolak was the first in league, AFL's Buffalo Bills in 1964 (He was from Hungry, so he WAS european --but I still don't think your terminology is correct).

How do they make the NFL schedule?

I'm wondering if anyone knows how they do this each year. I'm no talking about who plays each other, I know that formula. I mean how they decide WHEN each game is played. I tried doing that for a fantasy league once and it's like a rubix cube - Each team has two more games to schedule but no two teams have an open week when both are free so you have to start shuffling games around. I'm wondering if they use some computer program (and could I get a copy HAHAHA)

How do they make the NFL schedule?nba jerseys

they factor traditions, previous season, tv, baseball conflicts

How do they make the NFL schedule?nba 2k8 ,nba teams

I think it all about television. Since they broadcast the games, I think in a way they choose the schedule of the team. For example, with NBC, the first Thursday night game always feature the Super Bowl Champions at home. So, whoever wins this year Super Bowl will play the first Thursday of September at home. Dallas and Detroit will always play at home on Thanksgiving Day, in even number years the an AFC Team comes to Detroit, in odd number of years a AFC Team comes to Dallas. Some teams, especially division games, are mostly played in December. I know this answer is not clear cut. I hope it helps a little bit.

Are you joking he made a joke of a franchise of many years into a playoff team for two of four years he wasn't running guys like Riggo out onto the field, but this year was his best coaching after what happened with Taylor and them rebounding from all those injuries, and he lets his son run the NASCAR business
No. He is a good coach and deserves to be in the HOF
No. That doesn't make any sense. He is in the Hall Of Fame based on prior coaching success. You want to take that away for the past couple of seasons. Besides, his team was a playoff team this year that had to deal with an unforseen traumatic experience.
A couple of bad seasons with a team doesnt mean he will not be in the HOF
No...He is an awesome man and he was inducted for what he had already accomplished and nothing can ever diminish him in my eyes!
of course not. he is in the hall of fame for his accomplishments as a coach, which haven't been erased. And by the way, he didn't have too bad of a time with the redskins, taking a perennial losing team to playoffs 2 out of 3 years. The only way someone should be removed from the hall of fame is if they are caught cheating.
who really cares?

hes won 3 superbowls and has coached the Skins for what......15 years?

of course he should be in the HOF
No he shouldn't. He is %26amp; will always be a class guy %26amp; well respected coach %26amp; deserves his HOF status
No, but you should probably be removed from Yahoo Answers for your below average question.
He took the Redskins to the playoffs in 2/4 seasons.
BELOW AVERAGE? I know his record was not as good. But after what he did the last month of the year with Sean's death, was astounding. The skins had been to the playoffs once in the 11 years he was gone. They mad it twice in the 4 years he was back. Thats not below average.

Who will win the NFL opener between the Colts and the Saints?nba playoff ,nba teams

Saints 27 to 24, Because the Saints have a Younger and Stronger then the Colts.
The Colts in a close one. They have a slightly better defense, a jaugernaut offense, and they are at home. I'm thinking a score of 45 - 38.
Colts. 1) They're SB champs. 2) They have better players at almost every position and 3) the Saints are in for a large dose of reality this year, feel good story is over, and everyone wants to knock them off their NFC pedestal.
Colts 27-24
saints 31-28 colts

will be close and the saints d has experience to get big stops.
saints because the colts d will not be able to stop the saints and the saints d will do just enough for them to win the game
I don't know why, but I'm thinking Saints in an upset.

The Offense can keep up with the colts, and if the front seven can get a rush against Peyton Manning, I think they can mask the secondaries deficiencies.

This will be a shootout.....
The Saints. They have more weapons on offense. They can create mismatches w/ their RB tandem %26amp; they have just as solid of a WR core. The game will depend on the QB's decision making. %26amp; also neither team really has CB but the saints have a little more EXP. so they will be able to get the few stops they will need.
Colts easily. Saints were pretty much a flash in the pan last year. Back to the ole 7-9, 8-8 seasons for them. Saint are to overrated in the NFL as Michigan was in the NCAA.
Colts win by 14 because they are a better team with a top notch offense, Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison(2 Hall of Famers), and the greatest Coach in the midwest.
The Saints will win or lose depending on how Reggie Bush does. The Colts have a horrible defense, especially a rush defense. If Reggie Bush can exploit it, The Saints will win, especially since they also have a good passing game to complement it. I'm picking the Saints.
colts, they have a better offense and more experience in big games.
I think Reggie and Duece will destroy the the average run D of Indy. They will be able to control the clock and Payton can't kill you if he is not on the feild as much. Saints in a close one.
Colts will win, they have the better offense of the two teams. Also the saints do not have the cornerback tandem to even stop wayne and harrison. The colts always find a way to win and their defense will stop the saints at least once.

I can't believe you compared Dallas to the Yankees. The comparison isn't even close. The Cowboys have had subpar season in years past, the Yankees haven't missed the playoffs in 12 years.

The real difference is that the Yankees success and offseason/trade deadline activities have shaped Major League Baseball. The Cowboys have not done that.

Well, they are the self-proclaimed America's Team...but I think more people hate them than love them, like the Yankees...so, probably...
except they don't have the $200 million payroll.
I think the packers would be better compared to the yankees if they would have lost because ever thinks about the history of the team and the few selct players that are good. but the packs didn't choke so u really can't compare
NO, and I'm a Yankees * Cowboys Fan too.

Comparing Baseball to foot ball is apples %26amp; oranges.
im not sure theyre the most hated team in the league. i think that belongs to the patriots so in a way, theyre not exactly like the yanks.

good job giants looking forward to next week at the frozen tundra !!!!!!!!!!

also let the excuses come the refs wasnt on their side today the refs was fair for a change at texas stadium!!!!!
romo played a good game it was the dallas defense that let the team down. how can they let the giants go down the field with 50 secs and 2 to's before the half time? the dallas offense had the ball on a 20 play 13 min drive so the defense should have been well rested!

that score was the game margin. the dallas defense put romo in that situtation.

Since World War II, only the expansion Dallas Cowboys of 1960 (0-11-1), the expansion Tampa Bay Bucs of 1976 (0-14), and the 1982 Baltimore Colts (0-8-1 in a strike-shortened season) have gone winless.

Who will the miami dolphins select as the number 1 draft choice in this seasons nfl draft ?nba draft prospects ,nba teams

After the season they just had, it really don't matter.
not mcfadden cuz the fins have a ton of good rbs. Possibly Long because Jason Taylor is getting old and as soon as hes dont Long would do extremely well. But its probably gunna be between Dorsey, Ryan, and Philips. If i had to bet, i'd put my money on Ryan, soley becasue they desperatly need help at QB
None of the above.

The thing the mock draft forgets it the trade.

The Fins won't take a first round pick, infact they will trade it to the CLE Brownies for Derek Anderson. That being said, the Brownies will take McFadden, and have a starting 4 of Quinn, McFadden, Edwards and Winslow Jr. They will be in a great place to rebuild after that one.

If the Fins keep the pick, I think they take Dorsey. The Fins rush DEF was horrid last year, along with their entire team. Parcells won't draft a rookie QB in the first round just because its not his style. He will suffer through Beck, and Lemon and whoever else they bring in. He wants to sure up the DEF first, then offense.

Good luck!!
new mock draft released and dorsey goes 1 with dolphins dont agree with that i think they trade pick with threat of picking dorsey(tons of teams want him)and get phillips and like a 2 3 and 4 round pick too

Whos the best USC football player in the NFL TODAY?

Its gotta be Carson Palmer.

What do you think?

Whos the best USC football player in the NFL TODAY?lebron james

Well yes it is Palmer. He is by far in the most explosive offense and could easily throw the ball 70 yards. His arm strength and accuracy are what make him great.

On the other side of the ball...I would go with Polamalu. He is by far one of the most feared safties in the league. Every time you hear somebody in thecollegeranks compared to somebody in Pro its always Polamalu.

I would have chose Troy, but because Palmer is on the offense side of the ball, he does get more touches and it does mean he is the better player. However I do believe that in a couple years, Bush will be competing for that spot from Palmer.

Good luck!!

Troy took the steelers to the super bowl
Palmer is about as solid as it gets, even with that knee injury. I'm hoping Matt will pick up his game and get those Cards going this year. Being a steelers fan, i'd like to see our old coaches get some wins behind Lienart.
OJ
reggie bush
I agree. I think Palmer is probably the best right now from USC. Reggie has gotten to a slow start, but I think when he gets more comfortable in the pro's and gets to be more consistent, he will be up there with Palmer!
Don't forget Lofa Tutupu from Seattle.
Its gotta be Brian Leonard.

How important is the NFL columbine?

Should you rate a player on how far he throws, how how fast he runs or rate him by his game film? but it obviously affects the player on what round he might get drafted, thats for sure.

How important is the NFL columbine?nba playoffs 2007

It is soooo over-hyped. Just because someone puts up good numbers at the combine, it does not necessarily mean they will be a star in the NFL like in college.

How important is the NFL columbine?nba league pass ,nba teams

Well it's combine XD Columbine was a tragic school shooting. I'd say it's fairly important, but not all that matters. I mean, Brady looked terrible at his combine and look where he is now.
the combine is a good tool to use for breaking ties you have for certon players. If you have players A and B at the same position tied as far as how much u like him u can break that tie bye things like speed and power and wonderlick tests depending on what position hes playing.
It's kind of important. Teams in the NFL draft based on accuracy and arm strength. Sometimes, the combine isn't accurate. Look at Tom Brady, he was drafted in the 6th round and he goes on to lead the Patriots to 3 super bowl wins.
its pretty important, it is used in combination with game film because if the player has the physical tools to succeed then they might be worth more than someone who dose not have the tools to succeed on the next level but did good in collage
i think it is like half and half you got to at least know what potential you can have. that allows teams to see if a guy is worth trading up for.just look at trent edwards last year. you know you can call me bad but id do just enough to get in so i wouldnt go to a sorry or rebuilding teamid take my chances with a winner.and then after winning for a few years id go for the money.
Columbine? That was the school where those 2 gothic meatheads shot and killed a bunch of kids.

Do you mean the Combines?
i would say it is over-hyped, but in the NFL u need skill and athleticism, Cromartie of the chargers would have been drafted much lower, although i was one of the few after seeing him in the combine that was DAMN!!! i want that guy, and look how it's turned out, but never put too much on the combine, the guy has to have intangibles ( Ryan leaf is an EX who didn't)
Is the columbine where angrycollegeathletes get together to shoot at the coaches?

Or did you mean COMBINE?

It's a little different....just thought you should know.

It is useful, for measuring physical ability..... but it is way overrated, since it can't measure drive, motor, instincts, etc.

Plus, most of the top prospects don't even work out anymore. They are too scared it might hurt their draft status. Same reason most opt out of the Sr. Bowl.

Personally, I feel both should be mandatory. But I think they shouldn't be as important as game film.
Dick cheney threw it the farthest but he went undrafted and went on to a great career
The combine gives coaches and scouts a general idea of a players abilities. Teams go over everything before a player is drafted, game film, how they performed at the combine, personal workouts, attitude, work ethic, everything.
i believe its combine
really important because not all the scouts go to each players indivitual game this it the time where all the scouts can see ur talant

i believe the falcons and saints tied circa six years ago
i cant remember the last time there was a tie, and boltage there IS such thing as a tie as long as no one can score in the 15 minute overtime, just not in the playoffs.
A Steeler game.

Never mind it was against the Falcons.

It wasn't long ago either like in 2002.

11/10/02
Prior to 1974, the National Football League's rules provided for "sudden death" overtime only in playoff games. As a result, tied games were a common occurrence in regular season, which happened if neither team had more points after regulation time and an overtime period.

In 1974, the NFL instituted one fifteen-minute overtime period for all games tied at the conclusion of fourth quarter of regulation play. Any score in that overtime period resulted in "sudden death," and the game would be immediately ended with the scoring team winning the game. Now, a tied game resulted only when neither team scored in overtime.

Since that major rule change, ties in the NFL are very rare. As of 2007, there have only been 16 tied NFL regular season games since 1974. The most recent tied game in the NFL occurred in a 2002 game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Atlanta Falcons at Heinz Field, in which many team records for both teams were broken in a 34-34 tie.
Let me correct my earlier response. The last time that happened was when the Steelers tied the Falsons in 2002. They tied, 34-34. That was over 4 years ago.

Why does the NFL, penalize players for being unique?www.nba.com ,nba teams

its called a uniform. It makes them look sharp and helps differentiate between teams. Even when your rushing you may only get a glance at the persons sock in front of oyu so you need to know whether hes blocking for you or is about to lay you out.
also, nobody can complain that so and so has an advantage because they have better equipment.
It's so that have control over their uniforms. but they do allow players to be unique after that. TO wears big gold earrings during the game.
The NFL thrives on tradition. As the most popular sport in America, they carefully manage their image. Having players do what they want is no different in the NFL than it is in most companies. If you want to work here, you have to conform to our desired image.
Actually they can wear what they want as far as cleats or other stuff before the first game of the season. Which mean once you have a uniform you are not allowed to change it. Unless the team changes it. Think about how tack it would be if a member of the Steelers was wearing orange and black cleats. On the other hand, was a member of the Redskins was wearing a blue shirt. It keeps everyone in a standard color and makes it easier for refs a fans to tell who is who. These guys are getting paid Millions of dollars to play you have a dress code at work why not them.
it's called a uniform. that means everything needs to be the same for everyone on the team. obviously they believe in individualism if they let those retards do a dance after every single play.
probably a uniform code

they get paid well enough to wear what they want off the field
No Fun League. Then again they are wearing uniforms and they do have to be uniform. You don't see policemen or firemen or even the UPS guy jazzing up theri unis. Plus it is a team sport.

I mean, you want "individualism" in psorts fashion, follow individual sports.
Simply, it is a team sport. If clothing wasn't regulated those guys would look like a bunch of hoodlums.

Patriot undefeated? the patriot are by far best team in the Nfl still undefeated and the only team that has?nba store

The Pats have a terrific team, no doubt about it. And....."on paper," I agree that the Steelers might be their only obstacle in going undefeated.

However, it's only been done once, and there's good reason. that is, regardless of how poorly an opponent might appear statisically......any NFL team can beat ANY other NFL team on a given day. Consider Indy's near-perfect season in the very recent past. It takes a great team PLUS the breaks.

Example: the "lowly" Eagles almost brought them down - that game could have easily gone either way.

NOTE: To the "USC guy:" I'll take USC over the Pats if you'll give a 100-point spread.

Patriot undefeated? the patriot are by far best team in the Nfl still undefeated and the only team that has?nba salary ,nba teams

so how fair is that new england weather
USC IS THE WORST TEAM IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE!! THEY WILL NEVER SEE ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!
I still don't respect a coach and organization that looks the other way at cheating even if it was prior season, it makes it hard to believe that they aren't capable of doing it again.
Steelers are going to spoil the perfect season for New England
their the best this year*************************
Patriots, will remain undefeated... did you see the game Monday ...
I take it that you don't bleed BLACK %26amp; GOLD ,They aren't going to be undefeated after the (th of December the Steelers will take care of them!!!
I say the Pats are going to fall to the steelers because the Steelers are playing good so far(except for their last game against the Dolphins but because it was a bad feild to play on).Ben Rothlisburger is a good QB and I dont think the pats Defense can stop the team.
who knows only time will tell...i would guess there isn't much of a chance for the steelers to beat them...but would you really say they were undefeated considering they cheat? i hate both teams though. GO COWBOYS! :]
anyone can beat them now if the eagles can get that close...hopefully they won't cheat again like they did against the jets
The only team that has a chance against them?

Obviously you were asleep Sunday night and havent read the news....

The average Eagles kept with them right till the end on Sunday night, despite being huge underdogs.

In this league, any team can be any other one with good play calling and one or two players stepping up.

Don't crown them quite yet.
CHEATER CHEATER PUMPKIN EATER!

the packers and steelers will beat them

GO PACKERS!

LETS GET A WIN AGIANST THE COWGIRLS!
they will fall and probably lose in the first game of the playoffs
it will be a good game!!!
Guess wat No one cares ALL ABOUT THEM COWBOYS!!!!!!!!!!
moss sucks ...patriots cheat and will not go undefeated.....they will lose one regular season game and not make it to super bowl......noone is going undefeated!
i think they have a chance. this team is good. brady and moss have some real chemistry. and i thing they have proven that they can win without cheating.
you mean the CHEATRIOTS?
will you pat fans please be humble. If you do go undefeated big deal its been done. Another team will come along and do it again. So freakin what! The pats will fall back into obscurity again in a few years and no one will care about them...Again
Yes, the Patriots are the on top of the NFL.....And as a fan, I would love to see them go undefeated......

BUT...As memory serves me a wild card Steeler team won the Super Bowl, not so long ago...

So don't get so anxious......Be a fan, but try and not let their success so far cloud the long road ahead of them....The Eagles showed exactly what can happen if you don't keep your eye on the prize.......
Patriots will crush the steelers into the ground! HARD

NEW ENGLAND ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
